Exercise In A Pill

How many gym rats have dreamt of taking a pill and deriving the benefits of exercise? Scientists have brought this dream closer to reality.

Researchers at Aarhus University have developed a molecule known as LaKe that simulates the metabolic effects of exercise and fasting. The molecule merges lactate and ketones. The researchers claim it has the potential to provide health benefits comparable to those achieved through strenuous physical activity — without the need for actual exercise or significant dietary adjustments.

This advancement holds particular promise for individuals who have limited physical abilities or are at risk of metabolic-related diseases.

Initial Studies:

When introduced into the body, LaKe raises lactate and ketone levels, imitating a metabolic state associated with long-distance running and/or prolonged fasting. The compound creates or imitates a metabolic state associated with running 10 km on an empty stomach.

This metabolic state triggers the release of appetite-suppressing hormones and reduces the concentration of free fatty acids in the bloodstream. According to Professor Thomas Poulsen, one of the lead…
