Google’s Threat To Democracy.
Google Search Engine Bias
Like social media platforms, search engine giant Google is biased. Books can be written documenting individual cases of Google bias. I will only look at the two I feel have the greatest impact on our democracy. I am not being hyperbolic; Google is that big of the threat.
“The Good Censor”
This is an 85-page playbook created by Google that was leaked to Breitbart News in 2018. The playbook details how the idea of free speech on the internet is in Google’s viewpoint a Utopian ideal. It is also Google’s view that this Utopian ideal cannot be maintained on the internet due in part because of “bad behavior” on the part of the populace, which included electing Donald Trump president of the United States. You can read Google’s full 85 page “The Good Censor” briefing for yourself on Breitbart.com. https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2018/10/09/the-good-censor-leaked-google-briefing-admits-abandonment-of-free-speech-for-safety-and-civility/
Google Goes to War
After Trump was elected president, a one-hour video was leaked from Google, where Google’s top executives complained that Trump’s election was a disaster and that they (Google) were never going to let this happen again.
2016 Presidential Election
Dr. Robert Epstein, a lifelong Democrat and Hillary Clinton supporter, monitored Google’s search engine results. To do so, he had a group of 95 people located in 24 states. This resulted in an analysis of 13,000 searches and 98,000 webpages, and I quote, “found very dramatic bias in Googles search results…favoring Hillary Clinton –whom I support strongly.”
Dr. Robert Epstein earned his Ph.D. in psychology at Harvard University in 1981. He was the editor-in-chief of the magazine Psychology Today. Currently he is a senior research psychologist at the American Institute for Behavioral Research & Technology. He has been a research psychologist for 40 years and published extensively on AI and Google.
Dr. Epstein looked at the leaked Google video, and examined what Google whistle blowers and employees who had quit Google have said. They told the same story. Google plans to use every technique at its disposal to shift votes away from President Trump and to whomever his opponent in the 2020 election is.
He testified before Congress to explain the Google bias he uncovered in the 2016 election. He prefaced his testimony by saying that while a Democrat and Hillary Clinton supporter, “I value my country and democracy more than I value any party or candidate, that is why I am speaking out today.” He testified that Google is a serious threat to democracy. Through his analysis he determined that Google manipulated and shifted a minimum of 2.6 million undecided voters to vote for Hillary Clinton. None of these 2.6 million undecided voters were aware that they were manipulated to vote for Hillary Clinton.
And by the way, those 2.6 million votes, are a minimum number; the actual number of swayed votes may be quite more.
How can Google do this? It turns out to be pretty easy, if you’re Google. The answer is the ranking of the search engine results. People believing Google is neutral and fair will weigh the top page results more importantly than the bottom page. I mean, that’s the way ranking is supposed to work. And that’s what Google manipulates. In the case of the 2016 presidential election, its autocomplete erased or decreased the search volume ranking of any detrimental information about Hillary Clinton, such as her email scandal or Benghazi, while promoting any positive news for Hillary Clinton. For the Trump campaign Google manipulated its autocomplete results in the opposite manner; questionable information regarding Trump were promoted and positive information regarding Trump was either erased or demoted in its search volume ranking. These manipulated search engine results subliminally shifted people’s perception of the candidates to Hillary’s favor. These manipulations leave no trail for authorities to uncover at a later date.
We can prove this Google manipulation because Dr. Robert Epstein recorded all the search engine results for his study, so he has hard copy proof.
Better than this, later you can use Search Engine Manipulation Effect (SEME) to prove Google bias yourself, using Google. No experience necessary.
SEME Search Engine Manipulation Effect
After the 2016 presidential election, Google went to war. On March 3, 2020, Glenn Beck interviewed Dr. Robert Epstein where he stated that Google represents the biggest threat to our democracy. I agree. Dr. Epstein coined the term SEME for Search Engine Manipulation Effect, one of Google’s psychological tools for influencing people, without them being aware of the manipulation.
The SEME is not confined to manipulating millions of votes in the Presidential elections; no, aside from its potential to overthrow democracy, it is wielding its influence in everything Google wants to influence, and as it turns out, that’s a lot.
Just from my preliminary work, Google is influencing the results for vaccinations and autism, information on COVID-19, and vitamin supplements. This as they say, is the tip of the iceberg. From others I am hearing they are demoting people in the natural health industry. Google is expanding their influence well beyond censoring conservatives.
Prove It for Yourself
I will show you a few simple techniques that you can use to prove to yourself that Google is using its search engine results to influence people, the way Google wants them influenced. Ready? Let’s go.
How Google’s autocomplete is supposed to work is when you type a term in Google search, you see Google offering predictions to autocomplete what you are typing. These “predictions,” according to Google, are based on search volume and NOT suggestion. Predictions, not suggestions.
Just so no one thinks I’m putting words into Google’s operating procedure mouth, below is a copy of how their predictive auto complete is “supposed” to work.
Notice the title, “Predictions, not suggestions.” The highlighted text states, “We look at the real searches that happen on Google and show the common and trending ones relevant to the characters that are entered and also related to your location and previous searches.”
To find out search volumes we can use Google’s own tool “Google Trends”.
The first trend I examine is “do vaccines cause autism”.
That graph represents the search volume of the term, “do vaccines cause autism”
With this information lets do a Google search and see what happens.
When we type the term “do vaccines cause a…” we can see how the autocomplete is generating suggestions, supposedly based on search volume.
Okay then the most search volume term is “do vaccines cause active or passive immunity”. Let us plug that term into Google Trends to check its search volume.
The search volume for “do vaccines cause active or passive immunity” is the flat red line in the chart above. It’s search volume is zero. Yet Google’s autocomplete is saying its search volume is higher than “do vaccines cause autism”.
Let go further, if we continue typing in “do vaccines cause autism”, in Google search, the Google A.I. blocks it out of autocomplete completely, as if the term doesn’t exist.
I can provide proofs all day, but I’ll do one more regarding Covid-19. Many people who researched the Covid-19 threat felt that the threat, not the disease, was mostly a hoax. So, our second Google search is “Is Covid-19 a scam”
As I type the phrase into Google search, this is what happens. Google’s autocomplete is suggesting that “is covid-19 a social problem” is the most searched phrase.
The blue line in Google Trends shows the search for “is covid-19 a scam” and the flat red line is the search for “is covid-19 a social problem”
Again, we have proof that Google is NOT using search volume to help people find the most relevant data when searching. They are suggesting what they want you to find.
And if we continue to type in “is covid-19 a scam”, again the Google’s A.I. blocks the phrase from showing relevant content, see below.
Look back at how Google states their autocomplete works: “Predictions, not suggestions.”
In the body of their text it further states: “We look at the real searches that happen on Google and show the common and trending ones relevant to the characters that are entered and also related to your location and previous searches.”
It’s Only a Matter of Time
It’s only a matter of time before Google has its programmers modify its Google Trends output to sync with its autocompletion. At that point its manipulation will be fully hidden and undetectable. I hope experts like Dr. Epstein will still have techniques to check for Google’s manipulations.
It appears Yahoo is a bit less biased than Google. At least “is covid-19 a scam” came up ranked number 4, instead of not at all.
Why Do It Google?
Why would Google be interested in manipulating data on covid-19 and vaccines? I know that Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc., also owns Verily, their life science division. Verily partnered with GlaxoSmithKine, the sixth largest multinational pharmaceutical firm. It would take a bit of investigative reporting to see if there are any connections.
Google owns YouTube, so it’s not surprising to see YouTube censoring information.
YouTube is censoring any video contradicting the World Health Organization (WHO) policy. Why? Let’s look back at the bad information the WHO gave to the world.
This terrible and faulty information contributed to the unnecessary global lockdown that occurred. The actual fatality rate for Covid-19 is 0.3%, less than 1/10 of the fatality rate quoted by the WHO. Further, 33% of COVID-19 cases do not have any symptoms, 33 times more people than originally quoted by the WHO.
Had this real information been provided, the United States would have never locked down. The WHO name ought to be changed to the World Hysteria Organization.
President Trump said the WHO had a “role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of coronavirus.” Further, “Had the WHO done its job to get medical experts into China to objectively assess the situation on the ground and to call out China’s lack of transparency, the outbreak could have been contained at its source with very little death.”
Freedom is being threatened at every level by Google, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. They are deciding what (they consider) is true. Not what actually is true. They are the arbitrators of truth, and what they don’t consider true is censored. Read “The Good Censor.” They are deciding what you can see.
The complacency some may feel toward these high-tech companies will quickly disappear when it is your ideas and ideologies that are being censored.
I’ll end with a small graphic of Google bias.
